A Poem to a very broken Man
La Douleur (Sorrow) (1868-1869) by Paul Cézanne
With a heart where shadows dwell, a man resides,
Unconfident, his spirit wounded, his heart hides.
Alone, he weeps in solitude's embrace,
A veil of strength, masking his inner grace.
To the world, he wears a bitter, callous guise,
Yet within his depths, compassion silently lies.
A turbulent past has left him scarred and frail,
Afraid to risk love's touch, fearing it will fail.
He yearns for connection, yet recoils in fear,
Believing change is too late, hope fading, unclear.
But deep within, a flicker of longing remains,
A desire to break free from self-imposed chains.
Broken man of the Bay let not despair consume your days,
For love's light can mend even the darkest haze.
Take a leap, embrace the chance to feel again,
And find within your heart, a solace to regain.
